7 weeks old

Oh we had a lovely day today. The decision to come home early was definitely the right one. Jonathan got a fantastic night of sleep last night and even cuddled with us in bed while we all slept from 6am to 9am this morning! What a treat! His long naps today are definitely a testament of his sleep deprivation, but I think we are overcoming the deficit.

At 7 weeks, we are learning more of his tired cues and are working to get him down right when we see them. He starts staring off into space, yawning, and, when he's really tired, rubbing his eyes and face--too cute! But that means we let him get too tired...

Our feeding times are getting shorter--usually in the 30 minute range rather than the 45-50 range. He is getting more efficient for sure.

He can mostly still fit into 3 month clothes, but from now on I will be buying 3-6 month or 6-9 month clothes, especially when I start buying warm winter clothes. How did we get such a long baby?

We will have to take out the extra padding in his carseat soon--his shoulders are getting to wide for it!

He is getting close to not needing to be swaddled to sleep--those hands are calming down. And he totally houdini's both of his hands out of it regularly. He also is about to grow out of the swaddles so that might determine our decision to continue with them or not!

No longer are we in the sleep-anywhere stage. He definitely sleeps best at home in either his bassinet or swing. He even has trouble falling asleep in my arms or on my chest because he would rather look at our faces or interact with us. He now recognizes us from across the room so we have to be careful checking on him during naps--if he is awake he will see us and want to get up!


We are so proud of this 7 week old boy. We have more and more fun with him everyday.
