Jon has been saying that he has never seen a birthday last this long. Which is probably true. Jonathan's birthday party was back on May 11 when we were in SC and we have pretty much been celebrating since then. He knew it was his birthday on Thursday, but has also been waking up the past two mornings saying "It's your Birthday!" Today was another extension of the celebration, which I'm sure just added to his confusion.
First, he discovered his fully assembled tricycle waiting for him in the living room. It arrived yesterday from Grammy and Poppi.
Then, we went to the train museum. Our present to him was a membership there so we can go back lots more times.

And we capped off the day with an evening bike ride. Jonathan loved it. Mommy and Daddy will start loving it when he learns how to pedal and steer. :)
Jonathan is 24 months, and Baby Grace in mommy's belly is 24 weeks!
It wasn't exactly the special birthday day I had hoped for. I worked. Our car messed up so we had to bring it to the shop. We were out way past bedtime shuffling cars around, and then when we got home we discovered that J had a fever. Oh, well. Mostly we celebrated when we visited family earlier this month, and we will have some fun family time together this weekend. Jonathan did know it was his birthday today, though, and requested Happy Birthday being sung on repeat throughout the evening.
Happy TWO YEARS my sweet little big boy. You make our lives so full of fun and sweetness and happiness. I love you to the moon and back.
Despite having a big snow storm EVERY week in April, our weekends have been lovely and we've spent a lot of time as a family doing yard and garden work.
Jonathan spends a lot of time asking to go outside to "pay wif durt and wocks."

Oh, and he has been into accessorizing lately. He was walking around the house wearing my scarf the other morning, he brings my belt with us when we read stories before nap, and he asked yesterday where his purse was so he could go to work.
In other news, the goldfish in our pond are mating. It's officially spring! :)
Several of our exchanges lately have been going something like this:
Jonathan: What does a duck say?
Me: You tell me. Jonathan: quack quack quack quack quack.
(a pause while he plays with his trucks)
Jonathan: What does a bulldozer say?
Me: I don't know. What does a bulldozer say? Jonathan: I love dirt. Me: (thinking) oh, of course
He's been coming up with tons of these lately, and they often change. Sometimes bulldozer says "I love excavator." Sometimes a duck says "I love the lake."
My favorite is that if I ask him What does Jonathan say?, he will reply with "I love Mommy."
Tonight in the bath, talking about life, and the various sounds of animals or disney characters:
After Skyping with Grammy and Poppi, who live on the lake and have a yellow boat:"Go on boat. Go on boat now. Go on boat first. Boat now please. Go on boat on lake." This lasted a good 15 minutes after our Skype chat.
While playing quietly by himself with his letter magnets:"Where is W? Where is that W? Hmm. It's here somewhere." Where did he learn the phrase It's here somewhere? He kills me.
Just now in his bath, while swimming back and forth:"Oh my gooooosh. Oh my goooooosh." After I stop laughing in shock at this new phrase and asked him what he is saying, he looks at me innocently and says, "I'm a parrot."
Easter weekend started off with a double helping of easter egg hunts. Wahoo!

At the end he is talking about seeing doggies in the park and going outside and playing with rocks, in case you can't understand him :)
Easter basket in hand (my old basket from growing up), he was a bit confused, but excited nonetheless.
Why not try the basket on as a hat to make sure it fits in case this whole easter egg thing doesn't work out.

Easter egg hunt #2 = much more chaotic. We did manage to find this cool baseball egg (aka "Baseball Game Egg") that was the highlight of the day.

Looking adorable in his spring outfit. He was very confused about wearing shorts. He kept asking for his pants and pulling at the shorts saying "take off". Then he got used to it.

Beautiful weather meant a day outside for mommy and Jonathan.
But first, we had to make sure everyone knew that Jonathan was a toddler.
Since Mommy wouldn't read his book right this moment, he had some whining to say about it.
Then, we were off to the farm.

This farm is right down the street from our house. Usually we just walk around the outside of it, but today we actually went in. Jonathan had no problem leading the way.
After a few attempts to touch the horse's nostril, he decided he was content just looking at it.

Then after a non-nap, we went out in the backyard to play.
He wore mommy's old hat so the sun didn't get in his face. I guess this hat is probably his now.
He's getting good at climbing the ladder on his playset and going down his slide!

After playing, we came inside and Jonathan read some medical journals while mommy cooked dinner.
And, finally, a bath where he made some delicious soup in the orange bowl which he is testing out here.
Oh spring we are so thankful that you are slowly but surely appearing! Tomorrow is an Easter Egg Hunt, and if you're lucky, I'll do a blog post two days in a row!
