we learned a new sound

Just about 48 hours ago, Jonathan and I were having our usual morning nursing time, during which he is always particularly happy and silly and playful. He often takes several nursing breaks to look at me and tell me things, which usually include lots of "ba"s and "ma"s in different sequences and durations that probably tell a fascinating story. On this particular morning, though, Jonathan stopped nursing, stared deep into my eyes, and offered an assertive "tttttssssss," a sound which we had never heard come from this little boy's mouth. It was hilarious. He meant it so sincerely, whatever he meant. Since then, he has sounded like a snake, "sssssssss"ing all day long. Here he is last night getting ready for bed.

(note that the ever persistent mama is still trying to get some "mamaaaa"s for the camera)

(also note that that long stretch of time when he is not looking at the camera is because he is playing with the strings on my shirt)

(one more note: I love how proud of himself he is after saying ssss haha!)
